I took some useful information this page about the generation known as the ‘digital natives’. This generation has been immersed in technology for their entire lives. They were born between 1980-1994. They are well equipped with objects such as computer, video games, digital music players, video cameras and mobile phones. It is believed that education must change in order to accomodate these students. it is believe that this generation are unlike anyother generation and this is why education must change to fit this generation. I, however, believe it does not need to change an enormous amount, some teachers may need to change their “lecturing” style and develop a more constructivist approach, incorporating technology into the classroom. I feel that it is important not to generalise these students as not all will have the opportunity to develop these skills. The above link is what i found from the reading were the main points.

Which learning style/s does this ICT support? Inspiration allows students create their own mind maps to suit their particular learning style. This program will particularly suit visual and kinaesthic learners. As they can use their imagination and gain informarion from a visual mind map that they have created. It is also hands on. Inspiration is easy to use and is extremely interactive.

How could this ICT be implemented as a good cognitive tool within the learning environment? This program is great and easy to use. Inspiration makes the lesson interesting and more interactive. It also allows the students to use techonolgy and a way that is going to benefit their learning. It also allows the information that either the children have gathered or that the teacher has gathered in an interesting way that will captivate and engage the students. The most important thing is that the students can make the mind map. This will benefit the students more rather than watching someone else complete the task.

How is this ICT enabling the development of creativity? Inspiration helps to develop creativity by allowing the students to plan and create their own mind maps, using the information that they feel is most important and should be included. The students can be creative by adding colour, shapes and pictures to their mind maps to increase visual aesthics.
